  even syria voted against iraq by voting for the un resolution.

  wow!

  and china did not abstain as they have in the past ... the full 15 member sercurity council gave the usa/uk what they want ... while there are no automatic military triggers, the resolution does allow for unilateral action by member states if iraq continues "material breach" which is significant language in un speak.

  I don't buy into the conspiracy theories that Bush is hunting for somthing to do because Osama issue fizzled.

  I don't know about any conspiracy theory. It's just my perception.

  Exactly. So why is everyone wetting themselves now over him? What has changed? Nothing. Except Bush needed to keep the wheels rolling, IMHO.

  p.s. Amazing, I can't believe I actually disagree with you on something. I think you are one of the most perceptive and reasonable people around these parts. I always enjoy your posts.

  Sorry, folks, I don't buy any of this. All this blather about evil Saddam started about the same time the search for Osama fizzled. Bush knows as long as he keeps people scared, they will rally around the flag. Saddam is just a much more convenient target than the Al-quaeda bunch.

  This is a tough one. Unfortunately many JWs will refuse treatments that the Society does permit, simply because they are so confused and misinformed. If you can get an elder they respect to tell them this, he may be able to sway them. My brother-in-law had an elder tell him, "If the Society says its a conscience matter, that means it must be ok" To me this sounds wishy-washy, but if it saves a life... Otherwise, if you have two adults who are totally committed to No Blood, there may not be much you can do.

  Hope this helps. I know very little of practical value here.

  say if a person were having a conversation in their own home with some guests.

  Or perhaps in a different setting, where no advance setup is possible. Would a small battery-operated device be the best option?

  Would Radio Shack have the needed supplies, or are there better sources?

  Keep in mind that this is purely a speculative question about a hypothetical situation.

  suddenly, they move, not to be be seen again, until.... thirty five years later.

  you see the perv with his son(your childhood friend) at a store.

  TR, I really don't know. Recently a friend told me about a person she knew who was a pedophile and had been through treatment, he would take steps to not be alone with children. He knew he had a problem, and he knew he had to take responsibility. I gotta think its like alcoholism, its a compulsion or something, some of these people must feel some measure of guilt or remorse, others could care less. I am not trying to defend them or minimize their actions. They may never be cured, but at least they might be trying to do something. Look at the guy who wrote to Dear Abby, looking for help, and she turned him in.

  I thought I was a healthy, normal, well-balanced individual with no issues, but after getting the issue out in the open, I realized I do need to work through some things. It was just a suggestion.

  I suggested confronting the perp for the same reason, it might make you feel better to stand up to this creep and say, "I know what you did." What if the person admitted to it and agreed to get help? Not that I care about him, but if it stops further abuse of others... Either way, you get to have your say. But I am not an expert.

  Call child protections services and let them handle it. There may be no other options, statute of limitations may apply as far as pressing charges. Confronting the perp may be helpful, may not. Finding a therapist could also help.

  yesterday i just joined the board and i'm glad to be here.

  they are already making a shepherding call? you might be moving a little too fast. the key to the successful fade is keep it gradual. If you write a resignation letter and quit going to meetings and quit service all within a month you are asking for trouble. Patience, my young apprentice.

  I would advise keeping the same healthful spiritual routine until you actually have sucessfully resigned as an MS.

  If they visit, thank them for their concern. Serve treats if possible. Work has kept you busy, some illness maybe, possibly just a little depressed, any of these are good. When they encourage you to keep up your meeting attendance, participation, and field service, look sheepish, admit you have been slipping, and agree to try harder. Do not under any circumstances mention any kind of doubts you are experiencing. Then go to the next meeting and make a comment or two.

  Its called Theocratic warfare.

  I got an APOLOGY!

  the other day i called an elder and explained some of his shortcomings and how they had had a negative impact on my family.

  he had little to say and did dispute what i had to say.. .

  yesterday we received flowers and a card, with an apology!

  The other day I called an elder and explained some of his shortcomings and how they had had a negative impact on my family. He had little to say and did dispute what I had to say.

  Yesterday we received flowers and a card, with an APOLOGY! He acknowedged he had acted poorly, partly because of issues in his own life, and was very sorry.

  So now I feel just a teensy bit bad about the whole deal. Not that I am letting him off the hook, everything I said to him was true. If he was unable to help us, he should have talked to the PO and handed some of his responsibilities. But at least he is not the complete jerk I considered him to be.

  But I ain't changing my handle!
